We’ve been doing our mock and final drives this week and they’ve all been going swimmingly, only a few people are now left to pass and there are those on their assessment drives as I write this.
A mixture of nerves and excitement flow through your body before your guests arrive but as soon as you settle down into the drive you realize how much fun it is and how much you really know. My guests had a wail of a time seeing elephants, rhinos and buffalo along with a variety of birds, including our resident secretary birds, and a couple of interesting 4×4 experiences culminating in a sundowner with an awesome view before heading back, a cheer from the guests as we pulled in and I knew I must have done something right. All you need is a love for the bush and a willingness to learn and this course is a perfect experience having loved every moment of it.
We also had an awesome time at Addo definitely seeing plenty of elephants who gave us a bit of a run around and a rare sighting of a Spotted Hyena.
We’re now getting to that final stage, that last week where you thought you’d never reach it all now prepping for our final test, I’m going to miss this place.
